Taking your articles researched and your reading of the book, write a fully-developed academic essay of no shorter than 1,500 words (3-5 pages) identifying an issue raised by 1984 and discussing whether or not our society is moving closer to that problem or away from it. Support your arguments with information from the text of the novel (cited with in-text parenthetical citations) and what you learned from your Internet research and our in-class discussions. If your research led you to think that the answer is actually a little of both, carefully explain in what ways we are moving toward Big Brother and in what ways we are moving away. At the end of your essay, write Works Cited and list your sources in MLA format, as you practiced earlier in creating an annotated bibliography.
All applicants go through a series of tests that check their level of English and knowledge of formatting styles. The applicant is also required to present a sample of writing to the Evaluation Department. If you wish to find out more about the procedure, check out the whole process.
