Requires the student to conduct an organizational assessment (SWOT) at the immersion site to include
identification of stakeholders/committees, available resources, policies and procedures, define the scope of
the project, and identify a conceptual framework or theoretical underpinning to guide the project.
The assignment should be organized by the following 4 sections:
1. Primary DNP Project Goal: Describe the current state at the clinical or immersion site in relation to the
evidence-based goal. Identify the gap between the current state and the goal (define the goal).
2. Identify a list of Goals and Outcomes (SMART) that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable/Achievable,
Relevant, and Time bound (IOM) to close the gap between the current state and the goal.
3. Provide a Description of the Program Structure to include how the project be conducted including
organizational factors (i.e., roles and responsibilities, tasks, technology, training, resources, cost, staffing,
workflow). Take into the site SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) organizational
assessment to achieve the project goal.
4. Conceptual Underpinning and Theoretical Framework to be used to guide the project.
