Teacher Interview

I have to interview a Teacher and write an essay on my findings from asking the questions below..

It is very important that you learn as much you can about your profession
before entering into it. One important tool for students entering the education field
is to interview a teacher. There is no better experience that you can get than hands
on. You will gain a wealth of knowledge from a teacher and the experiences they
encounter daily.

Please use the following guide to complete the interview:
1. Diversity:
Ask about the diversity in his or her classroom. How do students differ in terms of culture
and first language? What cultures do students bring to the classroom? How does their
culture influence classroom learning? What languages are spoken in students homes?
What does the teacher do to accommodate these differences?

2. Accommodating Differences in Learning Ability
Interview a teacher to investigate his or her use of the following strategies to address
differences in learning ability: flexible time requirements, grouping, strategy
instruction, and peer tutoring and cooperative learning. Ask these questions:
a. Are differences in learning ability a problem for the teacher? Explain.
b. Does the teacher use any of the strategies mentioned above? Which ones work
and why? Have any been tried that didnt work?
c. Does the teacher employ any other strategy for dealing with differences in learning
ability?

3. An Elementary Teachers Philosophy
Interview an elementary teacher about his or her learning goals and instruction. As a
guide, ask the following questions:
a. What are your most important learning goals for your students? Why do you
believe these goals are most important?
b. What do you emphasize the most in your curriculum? For example, do you
believe that having students develop basic skills is most important, or do you
emphasize other aspects of the curriculum?
c. What is the primary teaching method that you use? Why do you use it?
d. How do you assess student learning?
e. What are your major classroom management goals? How do you implement
them?

Summarize a report of your interview in paragraph form. Be sure the report includes the following:
