In January 2021, the Telfer School of Managements Competitions Club traveled to Toronto in order to compete in the JDC Central (JDCC), Canadas largest business competition. JDCC brings together delegates from Canadian business schools and is Canadas fastest growing business competition. In 2019, there were over 850 competitors from 15 business schools, making JDCC one of the most prestigious business competitions in Canada.

JDCC is a three day event that showcases academics, debate, socials, and athletics. Delegates compete in business case competitions related to the eight streams of business: accounting, business strategy, digital strategy, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, international business, and marketing. Students also participate in debates, sports tournaments, and social competitions. The event lets students showcase all aspects of university life from social spirit and determination, to academic skills and teamwork. The team that performs the best overall will take home the prestigious Business School of the Year award.

This year, after a long drought, the Telfer Management Competitions Club won the coveted Business School of the Year award. However, after a review of competition results, the JDCC organizing committee and judges panel found that there was an error made in calculating the Telfer clubs entrepreneurship business case competition and social spirit scores. The Telfer group actually scored lower than Carleton Universitys Sprott Business School Student Competitions Club (or SBSSCC). In light of this news, the JDCC decided to revoke Telfers Business School of the Year Award. Telfer will actually be awarded second place, and SBSSCC would hold the title Business School of the Year.

You are the president of the Telfer School of Management Student Council and were recently informed of this sensitive news by Alana Burns, the president of the JDC Central Competitions Committee. In her letter, Burns congratulated the Telfer team but underscored the precise ways that the team lost marks in the entrepreneurship competition. She offered a few suggestions of how the team could improve for next year.

Your task is to write a professionally worded, indirectly-formatted, sensitive news letter to the Telfer Management Competitions Club informing them of this error. Inform the club of what next steps they might take in order to prepare for the next competition.
