Inclusive practices are considered the least restrictive environment (LRE) for most students with special needs. As early childhood educators, it is important to share our experiences, knowledge, beliefs, and strategies for implementing inclusive programs for young children (birth to 8 years old) with special needs. Using information you learned from the text, your own research, and your personal and professional experiences, reflect on your understanding and belief of inclusive practices.
Be sure to include the following information in your original discussion board response.
Define inclusion and identify essential elements for effective inclusive practices.
Discuss the benefits and challenges of inclusion for both children with special needs and those who are typically developing.
Explain your opinion on including children with special needs in the general education classroom.
