Rio Tintos Juukan Gorge crisis

In late May of 2020 a Rio Tinto spokesperson confirmed blasting in Juukan Gorge had occurred and that the Juukan Gorge ancient rock shelters were destroyed.

This action caused global outrage as it became clear that Rio Tinto had destroyed culturally significant sites dating back more than 46,000 years. The most precious piece destroyed were artifacts that provided evidence of continual human habitation and a genetic link going back 4,000 years.

This created a significant crisis for Rio Tinto and had major global impacts on the firm and its executives which are still ongoing.

You are to use this crisis as the subject for Assessment
Using a report format, discuss the importance and role of crisis management in international business firms.
Describe and compare any two (2) of the three Crisis Management Frameworks/Cycles you have learnt and discussed in class (in Week 6).
Choose any ONE of the two frameworks you described above and apply it to the recent crisis of the firm as advised in class.
Focus your report only on how the crisis might have impacted upon the specific firm and that firms global supply chain.
