RATIONALE:

When working in a collaborative environment, it is essential to communicate effectively with those around you. Technology is the primary tool to facilitate communication, especially when working with a team that is geographically dispersed. Being able to determine which technology tools are available and most useful to the team allows for more efficient communication and better outcomes.

ARTIFACT:

PACE (Program and Career Exploration) 111: Dealing with Distractions Group Project

The goals listed above correlate with this artifact because in this group project I had to work with two other classmates who lived in different time zones. We had to be on the same page with how we communicated, so we all decided on emailing each other and using a shared Word document to complete the team charter. We worked toward a common goal, which was to create a short presentation that explained ways to avoid getting distracted while studying. After reviewing different ways we could present this information, we determined that a shared PowerPoint file would be the most efficient.

CONNECTION TO PROFESSIONAL GOALS:

This project helped me learn how to communicate effectively with a dispersed team so we could achieve a common goal. In my future line of work as a health care administrator, I am confident that I will be better prepared to use technology tools to assist me with communicating in a clear and organized manner.
