The rhetorical analysis essay
Analyze a piece of media in detail. Discuss the rhetorical elements at work in the text using key concepts from our readings and resources. Key concepts include ethos (ethics, credibility), pathos (emotions, sensibilities), logos (logic, reason, organization), kairos (the opportune moment, context) and telos (purposes for communication).
Discuss relevant social context by introducing academic research. Draw connections between rhetorical elements in the text and significant elements of the social context. Draw conclusions about the impact or significance of your text and the broader medium or genre it represents.
All applicants go through a series of tests that check their level of English and knowledge of formatting styles. The applicant is also required to present a sample of writing to the Evaluation Department. If you wish to find out more about the procedure, check out the whole process.
