Write a letter to your fictitious principal addressing an advocacy topic. Use the Advocacy topic (position statement) you selected from SHAPE America for your factual information. If the issue you chose doesn’t seem to fit for your letter, select a different position statement.
Use the following guidelines to craft the letter
1. State your purpose in the first paragraph
2. Address only one issue and keep it to one page
3. Be friendly and courteous in your tone
4. Be accurate and factual – use the information from the position statement, it builds credibility if you mention who provides the facts
5. Although it is best to handwrite a letter such as this – I will allow you to type this letter
