You will create your own CREATIVE WORK around the concept of America. There should be a clearly identifiable concept of American identity, and your project should clearly link to one of the readings from the Washington Irving on.
Options:
1. Short Story
You will write a short story, 6 pages (double-spaced, 12 point Times or Calibri, 1 margins). You may use any point of view, setting, etc. that you deem appropriate to the story and theme.
2. Poetry Collection
For this option, you will write a poem or set of poems (centered around the same theme) to reach a 6 pages.
Additionally, you will need to write a short essay (2 pages, double-spaced, 12 point Times or Calibri, 1 margins), explaining your project, as well as the literary movement/themes that are at play and how they tie in to contemporary American identity.
All applicants go through a series of tests that check their level of English and knowledge of formatting styles. The applicant is also required to present a sample of writing to the Evaluation Department. If you wish to find out more about the procedure, check out the whole process.
