The student has submitted a story that may be less than five pages and includes a basic plotline that needs development.
The student has basic elements of theme, meaning, and characters in the story.
The student sparsely uses literary techniques, such as effective dialogue and figurative language.
The student has gone through limited, if any, outlining, drafting, editing, proofreading, and revision stages to improve the final draft.
Beginning
(1 point)   
The student has submitted a story that is less than five pages and may not feature a clear plotline.
The student has not developed the theme, meaning, and characters of the story.
The student does not use literary techniques, such as effective dialogue and figurative language.
The student has not used outlining, drafting, editing, proofreading, and revision stages to improve the final draft.
