Be driven by an argument and therefore contain the elements what, how, and why in the first paragraph (see handout in course files)
Have properly structured paragraphs (see handout in course files)
Be 12 pt, DOUBLE SPACED, MLA formatted, and properly headed
Must contain substantial textual engagement
Must make smart use of 1 piece of external criticism from a peer reviewed journal
