Write a 2-3 page double-spaced essay, using McClain chapters 10 and 11.
All essays must use a MINIMUM of 2 quotes or examples from the reading. Be sure to cite quote or example using the author’s last name and the page number. Of course, using more examples is better! Just be sure you don’t use nothing but quotes – be sure to include your original thought.
Spelling and grammar absolutely count, but you are primarily being evaluated on the quality of your response to the following prompts (you must answer BOTH of these questions in your essay):
How does public opinion shape the news media and vice versa? Using the McClain text as a starting point, describe the types of media bias discussed in the book. Where does one go for conservative or liberal news?
Consider chapter 11. Do you think that biased news media has a role in reinforcing racial stereotypes? On the flip-side of that, can news media counteract such stereotypes?
This essay is due at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 28th. Remember to write at least 2 pages at a minimum!
All applicants go through a series of tests that check their level of English and knowledge of formatting styles. The applicant is also required to present a sample of writing to the Evaluation Department. If you wish to find out more about the procedure, check out the whole process.
