Instructions:
Identify the fracture type you will be discussing and describe the fracture.
Discuss the following ideas if they apply to your chosen fracture:
o What bone is it common in?
o Why is it named or classified as it is?
o Explain the mechanism of injury that it may result from.
For example, is it more common to occur due to trauma, due to a deficiency of a nutrient, metabolic disease, or another mechanism?
o What is the common treatment of this type of fracture? Include any recommendations for nutritional support for bone health.
Assume the role of a caregiver and educate a patient on this type of fracture. Address the following areas:
o What is the prognosis? About how long will this likely take to heal?
o In general, are there any special instructions or restrictions that the patient should avoid with this fracture?
