The decline of the Roman Republic can be seen as a failure of that ideal of harmony, balance and power-sharing between the various segments of the Roman government. Evaluate Julius Caesar and/or Augustus as saviors of the Republic; if necessary, you should compare and contrast their actions and agendas, including comparisons to previous leaders from antecedent civilizations (Alexander the Great, Pericles, etc.].
