This course serves a primer of the Black Experience globally, but primarily focused on the United States. However, Black American cultures, including diasporic Black cultures have had a profound influence on global events and cultures. This includes languages, cuisines, music, religion, etc. Using examples from the course and from your own knowledge, illustrate in a 3 to 5-page essay, the ways that Diasporic Black cultures have influenced non-black cultures either regionally or globally. You can focus on a specific area, nation, or geographic region. You will be evaluated on your understanding of concepts covered in class and in the readings. You are expected to engage with the readings while developing a cogent argument to support your stated position.
