Interior Furnishing and Decoration Analysis

I had already submitted this order to another writer and they sent it full of random writing not even about the same topic. I saw you had really really good ratings so please read my description below thank you!

Select an interior created or significantly altered after 1800 and closely associated with a major movement, group, or set of ideas in the decorative arts and design(Arts & Crafts, Vienna Secession,Society of Artist-Decorators, Futurism, Constructivism, Postmodernism, Sustainability,Universal/Inclusive Design,etc.). Research and write a formal academic paper driven by a thesis and argument that analyzes the movement, group, or set of ideas and places your interior within the context of the major ideas of your group. How does this interior express the ideas of the movement or group? Please include one clear image of the interior space

A topic example: The Gamble House and the arts and crafts movement
(but you can pick whatever you think is best for you to write about the above info)

Before drafting your paper you will want to:
describe the interior and the objects it contains including material(s), size, shape, color, texture, imagery, and any distinguishing characteristics what does the space look like?
analyze your interior within the contexts of the movement, group, or set of ideas that led to its creation how does the interior express or reflect those ideas? These may include artistic, social, cultural, economic, or political contexts.

You may want to consider some of the following questions when developing your thesis and argument, with an emphasis on how your interior reflects or exemplifies the ideas, goals, and/or approaches of your movement:

How is the interior space organized? How is the room laid out? How are the functions of the space organized? Would this space be part of a larger suite of rooms or is it more self-contained?
What is the relationship between architecture and interior? How do the elements of the interior architectural frame (i.e. floors, windows, walls, ceilings, interior architectural details, etc.) relate to the furniture and furnishings? Is there a relationship between interior and exterior architecture? Interior and exterior space?
How was the space designed and executed? Who would have been responsible for the aesthetic conception of the space? What were they trying to achieve/what principles guided them? Who would have executed the different components of the interior?
How are form and ornament used, including iconography or symbolism, sources, and cultural meanings?
Was this space commissioned by a patron? How did those networks of patronage function?
Does the interior show the influence of other cultures, geographic areas, or time periods?
Does the object demonstrate engagement with contemporary aesthetic debates about beauty, form, color, function, propriety or other issues?
How does this interior function in social and cultural contexts? What is the relationship between the interior and issues of race, ethnicity, class or caste, gender, religion, and politics?
How was the space used and what can that tell us about the people who inhabited it and their wider culture?

You do not need to answer every one of these questions in your paper but these types of issues should inform your analysis.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
