“The Conservative Party has professed a desire to revisit the nature of human rights law in the UK for some time. The 2019 Conservative Party Manifesto provided that a Conservative Government would update the Human Rights Act to ensure that there is a proper balance between the rights of individuals, our vital national security and effective government.
Consider the system of human rights protection under the Human Rights Act 1998, including how the UK has given effect to its international legal obligations under the ECHR and ECtHR judgments, and analyse whether there is at present a proper balance between the rights of individuals, national security and effective government. Use case law to substantiate your position.”
