I want to introduce the main character as an intelligent young adult with a good sense of humor and a strong sense of self. She has one best friend who she is very close to and who gets her completely. Her family adores her friend and treats her like another child. Excelling in school, she is not very popular with her peers, but that doesn’t bother her, as she feels she has a good community in her friend group, consisting of four other people, boys and girls. With her immigrant parents, she has experienced discrimination but does not let that slow her down. I want to slowly develop suspense; she is the target of a shooting, and, unsure of who the shooter is, she tries to figure it out on her own.
