We are in Part 3, the final section of our class' Signature Project.  To begin, let me show you a paragraph that is from your syllabus.  I hope it will be a reminder as to what we are trying to do:

· The Signature Assignment for this class is worth a total of 300 points. It is a writing-intensive project designed to give students who are interested in public relations the opportunity to experience a public relations campaign as it is happening.

· Each section of the assignment is in two parts: a first draft, which is worth 20 percent of the total grade; and the final draft which is worth 80 percent of the total grade.  As students complete each section, they must first submit the first draft for inspection by Turnitin, which will check for plagiarism.  The purpose of the first draft is to give students an opportunity to correct their work before they submit it as a final draft.  If a student’s Turnitin score is greater than 10 percent, they must correct their draft and resubmit it in order to receive full credit for their first draft.  Final drafts should not be submitted if the uncorrected Turnitin score for their first draft is greater than 10 percent. If a student submits a final draft with a Turnitin score greater than 10 percent, they will receive no credit for the first draft, and they will receive a zero on the final draft until they submit a corrected final draft with a Turnitin score of 10 percent or less.

· For the third and final part, students will provide some recommendations on how the organization can improve its current efforts. This section is worth 150 points. All this should be done in 3-4 paragraphs spanning a total of 2-3 pages.

All parts of this project must be produced in Microsoft Word. The text must be double-spaced, have one-inch margins, and be in either 12-point Times New Roman, Calibri, or Arial font.

Public relations firms are paid enormous sums to influence and create opinions by writing professionally.  Consequently, I expect your papers to be grammatically clean and well-formatted. Juvenile errors such as typos and poor formatting will result in a low grade, regardless of content.  To help you avoid these pitfalls, I fully expect each phase of your paper–that is, Parts 1, 2, and 3–to have been submitted to Smarthinking for evaluation and editing before you send it to me.  Smarthinking employs thousands of personnel who spend their days helping to improve the writing of students like yourself, all for free.  Click the link at the top of the Canvas page for more information.  If you get stuck, don't hesitate to contact me or Terence Sheridan at Amridge's library for help.  

 

To check your assignment for plagiarism, submit your paper to this site BEFORE submitting the final draft to me next week. I will not be looking at the spelling, grammar, thought, or punctuation of your submission this week, only that your Turnitin score is less than 10%.  Scores above 10% will be suspect and I will not give credit for this assignment if the final draft has a Turnitin score of more than 10%.
