The paper is to be 5 pages MINIMUM, with at least three cited scholarly sources. Papers MUST be no more than 12 pt. in font size, double spaced, no triple spacing between paragraphs, and no subheads/paragraph titles, etc. The 5-page papers MUST be 5 pages of CONTENT, not 4, not 4.5 (yes, you may have more, but not less). Your Works Cited page and/or abstract or title pages do not count as content. Do not, on any of your papers, leave a margin on the bottom or the top of more than 1.5 inches. The margins on the side are to be 1 inch. Set your Word document to 1.5 for line spacing. So dont double space or single space. No more.
The textbook is NOT to be used as a source in any of the papers, nor is a dictionary, an encyclopedia, Encarta, Wikipedia, a Bible, or a Whos Who. These are not valid sources for a research paper. Use quotation marks around words that are not your own, citing the source using the styleguide of your major, and if paraphrasing ideas/opinions, etc. that are the work of others, you must also cite those.
VERY IMPORTANT>>>>>professors are now using the anti- plagiarism software embedded in Blackboard (SafeAssign), which finds plagiarized material in ANY and ALL papers. SafeAssign allows students to submit papers and see problem areas, so you can go back and add quotation marks and/or citations. So dont risk it (and, also, its just plain ole stealin).
All applicants go through a series of tests that check their level of English and knowledge of formatting styles. The applicant is also required to present a sample of writing to the Evaluation Department. If you wish to find out more about the procedure, check out the whole process.
