Purpose
Students require knowledge of a wide range of strategies to support diverse
learners in their language and literacy development.
Procedure
Each student will be given a scenario. She/he will be responsible for creating the
ideal literacy rich environment for the student described in the scenario, including
at least six (6) strategies to encourage the students language development.

Case:
Samantha speaks Arabic at home and did not speak much English when she arrived at the school in grade 4. She is now in grade 6 and struggling to prepare for her final exams. She has difficulty writing in English but appears to comprehend what she is reading fairly well. She wants to be a chef when she grows up.
