What is your ideal job? After researching the pros and cons of working at your ideal job, do you still want it?

Please follow these instructions carefully.

Topic: What is your ideal job? After researching the pros and cons of working at your ideal job, do you still want it?

Many of us love brands and companies and think, “I would LOVE to work there.” But the reality may be that while you love the brand, you may hate working at the company, or it might not be the best place for you to work.

For this assignment:

1. Pick a dream job position you would love to have in the ideal company you would love to work for (e.g., fashion buyer at Burberry).

2. Research job information that is important to you. (For the report, there is no need to include all this information; use only what you need to prove your point.) For example:

Position description and salary range
Brief background of company
Brief list of company locations
Approximate number of and demographic breakdown of employees
Kinds of products or services offered
Clients served/customer demographics
Competitors: Who are they and how do they compare to the company
Latest news about the company (sales figures, new management, new line, etc.)
Project future of the company
Companys community involvement
3. In a minimum 2-page written memo, using the 2+2 = 4 analytical approach (see pp. 399-403) discuss your expectations of working in your dream job position. Then, using only as much of the information you gathered on the company as you think is necessary, discuss the pros and cons of working for the company. You should state whether or not this dream job is still a job you want.

4. You must have at least four sources. Your information must come from legitimate sources, not personal blogs or content farms sites (such as Yahoo, Hubpages, Wisegeek, Findarticles, Slideshare, Answers, Entrepreneur, Manta, Examiner, eHow, or About.com). Wikipedia is NOT a legitimate source. For more information you can interview current employees, view the companys website, and do research in library databases, Wall Street Journal and New York Times and the like, fashion trade magazines, GlassDoor.com, Hoovers.com, and Vault.com.

5. Add a Works Cited page noting your sources using MLA style.

6. Address the memo to me. Include a subject line. The memo must be at least two (2) pages long (not including the Works Cited page), typed (12 point type), single-spaced, no indents. Make sure to document all your sources of information in MLA style, with parenthetical citations within the memo and with a Works Cited page.
