Whether leadership is learned or innate

Purpose: This paper will build on your opinion from the in class writing activity (Is leadership taught or is
it an innate skill). You will support your opinion, consider the differences between management and leadership
and decide whether leadership can be taught by supporting your opinion through research.
Directions: Students need to use at least SEVEN SOURCES for this paper. Three (3) scholarly and three
(3) non-scholarly sources to research the differences between management and leadership and answer the
question on whether they feel leadership can be taught or if it is an innate skill by supporting their answer with
the research they find. The other one source can be either type of source. A non-scholarly source meaning not
peer reviewed journals or books. Non-scholarly sources must add substantial support to your argument. Sources
such as brainyquotes.com, dictionary.com, etc. will not count towards your non-scholarly sources. Acceptable
non-scholarly sources include newspaper articles, blog posts, webinar material, etc.
The premise of this paper is to get you, the student, to do two things:

differences, but showing relevant examples of both and being able to explain the differences between the two
examples.
2. (Major Premise~6-8 paragraphs/Thesis focused) Answer the question of whether leadership can be taught or
if it is an innate skill. An answer of either yes or no is fine the important part to this question is that you support
your answer with research to back up your opinion.
